An interview with Full Sail's CEO and Founder Irene Firmat
In 2008 Full Sail Brewing created their small batch Brewer’s Share series as an opportunity for each of their individual brewers to express their creations to be shared on tap exclusively in their pub. Since their crew came up with so many great beers, they decided to share a selection of them with beer lovers everywhere. The first beer in the series "Extra Special Barney" (ESB) developed by Brewing Supervisor, Barney Brennan will be released in 22oz. bottles and on draft in January.

The adventure of better beer starts with a single taste. Brew fans often feel like Indiana Jones searching for a lost relic. You venture into an mysterious temple (a brewery) and test your luck with various trials (their beers). Sometimes you choose wisely. Sometimes you don't. I had one such trial with Full Sail Brewery where I tested the waters with their Session Lager. I was so impressed that I ventured further down the gauntlet to their Session Black Lager.

One of the secrets to the wonderful flavors in beer is hops. Located in the heartland of hops, every year the Full Sail brewers wait with thirsty anticipation for hop harvest and the chance to celebrate by brewing fresh hop beers. When the hops are at their peak, the Full Sail brewers truck out to the hop fields to collect the aromatic bounty. These seasonal wonders will go from field to brew kettle within a matter of hours and the magic begins.

Their LTD Series, seasonal lagers that have gone from triumph to triumph and now features my favorite: Full Sail LTD 03, a sexy, silky, irresistible pilsner that, as the kids say, rocks seriously hard. This is pilsner with muscle, not at all Bavarian, German, or Dortmunder-styled and unapologetically bold.

Wood barrel aging is an art form. When done right, it’s a wonderful thing. Our barrel aged beers have been a Full Sail tradition since 1998 when we joyfully discovered what happens when you pair vintage barrels, dedication, and patience.
