First the new fermentation tank is hauled to the brewery on a heavy duty semi.
We shut down half of the road in front of the brewery to make this happen.
Then you attach the top of the tank to one of the two giant cranes.
And up she goes, one end first...
Then the other.
Then the larger crane starts hoisting the top end up, slowly turning the fermentation tank vertical.
Brewer Chris monitors the scene.
Like we said, heavy duty cranes.
Like we said, heavy duty cranes.
Once the tank is near vertical, brewers help by making sure the tank is turned the right direction...
... and that it doesn't hit anything in its path, like this light pole. Despite how it looks from this angle, we did not hit the light!
The tank is then carefully brought over to its final resting place, over the fence and right next to the sidewalk in front of the brewery.
The crane operators make minute adjustments to make sure this massive 600 barrel tank is perfectly positioned.
Brewers and production staff below help maneuver the final few inches until it's just right.
Looks like she fits right in.
This 600 barrel fermentation tank is in! Now to install the 400 barrel tank right next to it. 1000 more barrels in one day.
